Hi guys I’m currently studying to retake the mcat and planning to apply next year. This would mean 2 gap years :( . What’s a good idea to get the best experience before next May? I’m looking for post bac research positions, but I may have to start looking for research technician positions. I am also planning to get an EMT certification in August-September. My thinking was that I could work full time and then do 2 emt shifts over weekends.

For reference, I have a 2 first and 1 middle author translational research posters, a couple middle author clinical research posters, 1 case study, and a couple (pending) clinical research papers.

For the gap years, I would like to work in a translational research lab.

Over the past couple weeks, I decided that I should apply to mostly Md PhD because my goals would include running a translational/wet research lab as a neurosurgereon. I noticed that Md only neurosurgeon labs are often clinical research focused, which is less interesting to me.

I’m open to any tips/suggestions!

Hi guys, I was wondering what decks are good for each section. I’ve started studying a but so I don’t mind switching up decks.

It seems like Pankow is fine for PS, but there’s a good amount a terms not covered so Aidan is probably better with a decent amount of time to study.

For cp, practice questions are better so spending so much time on Anki isn’t worth it. For this, I will stick to Captain Hook aka Jack Sparrow v2.

For bb, i’m still deciding what to do. I do like basic more just because of being less likely to memorize the card and I like that the cards give a better overall picture rather than memorizing disconnected facts. However, I also see the importance of knowing low yield stuff…which perhaps is a bit less important for cp? If Aidan v2 cards were tagged for low yield, then I’d just add those cards to Captain Hook.

I did good in my non-cars sections and I don’t think test taking is the issue for me, probably just the last couple points/low yield info. I tested last year but my score was mid (513) and the rushed retake (thus a couple points lower in every section) got me rejected everywhere. So I will apply next year and will test end of this summer. This means two gap years between medical school, so I want a super good score, a top school, and I would apply MD PhD-perhaps only.

What do y’all recommend? Thanks!
