Just got results from my ATSA and I got WQ. This is a career path and industry in general that I have always wanted to get into. As I read some of the posts on here and look at the general state of the aviation industry, more specifically ATC, it seems that right now is a particularly bad time to get into ATC.
For some context, I currently have a full time job in the IT/AV industry making roughly $55k/year. There’s not a whole lot of room for upward movement, but I get weekends off and 3 weeks of paid PTO. I am really trying to weigh the pros and cons as I have still yet to be given really any detailed information on pay scale for this position.
I guess my question would be: If it’s something I am really interested in, would it be worth it to take the leap of faith and get into ATC instead of staying at my current job?
