Best type of pipe Insulation
hey everyone, I’m redoing my attic and I live in upstate NY and have a slab house so all my water pipes are running through my ceiling. I have problems with if it’s cold for a period of time my pipes freeze. what they did when the house was built (1975) was just put r19 batten between the trusses and just ran the insulation over top of the pipe so it left a bunch of air gaps. I’m trying to do it right and ripping out all the insulation and putting r13 between the trusses and then gonna put a blanket perpendicular to that. so I need to actually insulate the pipes. what you everyone recommend? I know there’s fiberglass, rubber and poly. I just want to insulate them the best I can and try and keep them from freezing. I know I can’t in my kitchen wall because there’s no way to get to those pipes without either ripping apart my kitchen wall inside or outside which is really gonna open a can of worms and I dont have the money for that right now. everyones opinion would be appreciated thanks.
