It's near time for me to place the order for my third month of supplies. I got the adhesive remover and skin barrier in wipe form last month, as I wanted to get plenty for my go-bag, but I'm wondering which form people prefer for everyday home use. Can go either way with the adhesive remover, since it does need some sort of wipe to actually get the adhesive off, but it feels like the spray would be better for the skin barrier, as it wouldn't remove the powder. The nurses have all said to let it sit until it gets sticky, but the wipe versions hasn't really done that, even though it's definitely improved the adhesion of the wafer/tape.

Does anyone who has tried both versions of either have a preference? I use Convatec supplies, if that makes a difference. Feel like I should switch to the spray for at least the barrier prep until I need to refresh my on-the-go supplies, but wanted to ask what has worked for other people first.

I’m finally getting to the point where I don’t always have a leak every/every other day, and sometimes get to several days with the same bag. How do you decide that it’s time to change when there isn’t anything forcing the issue? The hospital WOC nurse had said to go with twice a week, which leaves a lot of wiggle room. I’m on day four now, and the barrier isn’t showing any signs of developing any problems, and the tape portion isn’t lifting up at all. The first time I had a long lasting seal, I changed it on day five as the fabric covering was starting to show signs of rubbing/wear. Of course the next one only lasted two days before leaking, so I did hit twice a week, though very uneven duration. I don’t want to annoy my skin with extra changes, and do want to start building a stockpile of bags for when I have a bad week and have to change every day, but I know that there’s also reasons to change it routinely

What drives you to change a bag when there isn’t a problem with it?
