I am a what some might say "a big guy" I'm tall 6'5" and wide shoulders, about 225 and it's not the waist and I'm not "fat." I fit within their arm rests. My wife is small 5'1, petite.

We live on the west coast and for work I fly up and down the West Coast and use Southwest. I have taken 15 trips so about 30 flights on Southwest so far this year. My wife had a work retreat on a cruise to Bimini with 1 guest. They paid for the airline (Southwest) or gave you $200 if you booked with another. As usual I had no issue, we have our first lay over in Chicago, the gate agent tried to make us buy an extra ticket and we very public and rude about it, in Richmond they tried again to make us by an extra ticket this time by trying to shame us infront of everyone boarding and announcing there was a disgruntled passanger that was going to delay them, then when we landed in Ft Lauderdale, a gate agent from when we were getting off followed us to baggage claim telling me they flagged us.

Checking in on the return flight was even worse we couldn't check in at the Kiosk, the help desk made us get a supervisor, that supervisor had to get their supervisor and told us that I had to buy an extra ticket because I was a danger to everyone on board because I was to big to fly safely. They finally called someone at corporate and they let me board without an extra ticket. This caused us to miss our flight, We had the same issue in Baltimore, and again in Chicago then when we landed on the west coast to take our last connecting flight home no issues.

I am not flying SW again. I will book my work trips through a different airline.

Why the different attitudes based on the Coast?
