Hey all, I've been enjoying my record collection with this stereo set up but I'm looking to upgrade.
Speakers: Technics SB-CR55
Receiver: Onkyo TX-8011
Turntable: Fluance RT85
Stand: George Oliver Nashville Medium
Speaker Stands: Cheap Target ones (The walnut finish matches the Nashville stands almost perfectly. I bought two extras since they were only like $30 each)
Living room is L shaped and roughly 12'x20' and 15'x20' so probably around 420 sq ft in total.
I listen to mostly hip hop but with some 90s rock and occasionally house / EDM. Typically I'm listening medium volume but occasionally will play them loud. About half of the records you see are 2000s house music. I either sit in front of the speakers or on my couch to listen. Occasionally I'll stand at the turntable and fidget with my collection while listening. I have a separate 3.1 system in the same room for my TV but it's nothing special. Energy towers and a generic Yamaha woofer and receiver.
I don't listen to both systems at once and I like having the vinyl set up along this side wall as it looks nice and fits my wood theme. I definitely want a walnut finish for whatever speakers I end up getting. I though about somehow wiring the two sets of speakers to the same receiver but not sure how that would sound with them spread around the room. Not sure if I want bookshelf or floor standing and the speakers will likely be close to the wall. My listening may be off center at times. I know that off center listening may not be ideal but I don't plan to sit in the same spot all the time.
What I'm looking at now is a speaker / receiver upgrade for the vinyl set up but I'm open to any feedback really. I have about $2K I could drop but again I'm hoping to find walnut speakers.
Here are some speakers I've looked at but I haven't heard any of these in person.
Whatfedale Evo 5.4
Wharfedale Evo 5.2
KLH Model 3
Klipsch RP-500M II
I'm looking for passive speakers but won't rule out powered. I assume any speaker upgrade will be noticable over these vintage speakers as they were entry level 25 years ago.
Thanks for the input and I'll add some photos of my set up and room.
