I’m not on Reddit much, so I didn’t know about this change increase, and I never saw an email. I’ve been wanting to get an annual, but I just haven’t been able to afford it yet.
But I really hate that the favoritism with annual subscribers over monthly subscribers. Both are investing subscriptions based on your project, so both believe in you and both should be treated similarly, especially if someone is a monthly user and they’re playing for an entire year. They’re ultimately paying and investing more than an annual user is, so they’re still investing more, so I don’t understand why annual users get treated with more hierarchy and favor when it comes to grandfathering.
The argument falls flat for me.

I don’t mind Bevel’s price increase. Those things happen as things change and features get added, the AI cost, demand changes, developers have to get paid, but I think grandfathering all early adopters of paid subscriptions is an important way to build trust in your supporters.
I beta test a lot of apps and join a lot of apps in a lot of their early developments, this being one of them (here before the TikTok hype crowd), and I have yet to see it being a practice where some subscriptions are favored subscriptions and get grandfathered and others don’t (not implying that others haven’t, I just have yet to see it). It’s usually based on the time in which you’ve subscribed, rather than whether it’s monthly or annually.

I know there are people who are fine with it, and those are the ones who got grandfathered in, so obviously they are happy. And I get that you stated this prior; however, I still think it’s worth criticizing. It just is pretty lame in my opinion.
There is no app on the app store that I’ve personally subscribed to that when they had a price increase, I wasn’t able to maintain the price I was already paying prior. This one is a first. I used to be really happy when talking about this app, the progress and development. Now I just kinda have a yucky taste in my mouth. I just feel very undervalued and written off.
