Been at Best Buy for roughly 2 1/2 years and dear god do I hate every goddamn Windows OEM partner. HP, Dell, Lenovo, all of them trash loaded with garbage(and often malicious) bloatware like McAfee, Norton, and whatever nonsense that particular brand slams down peoples throats. The only silver lining is that our store's geek squad is very passionate about getting rid of all of the junk when they do a PC setup. HP is even selling a desktop with an R7, 16gb RAM, 1tb SSD and a 3050 for an outright scummy $1400 when basically the same PC but from a different company with a 5060 is the same price and not filled with proprietary and hard to replace parts for the same price. And don't get me started on MicroSlop Office. $180 to do a thing that Libre and Google do for free. I even asked in a meeting I was forced to attend why someone should pay for standalone Office when Libre exists and I was basically told it doesn't matter cause if someone brings up libre they won't buy office anyway so who cares? Terrible answer to what is imo a very reasonable question a well informed customer could have. But we're not meant to sell to a well informed and reasonable customer, we are meant to sell to the lowest common denominator and shill for slop because our company is payed billions by MicroSlop and it's hellish underlings to sell products that are made worse and more expensive than the competition. Nothing matters as long as Best Buy by Citi Bank gets a card app, a membership and a MicroSlop 365 sale out of it.
I love my job and I will continue to be honest with my customers about these things because I believe that my reputation as a human being is more important than my paycheck, and thankfully my management is very chill as long as they don't get cooked for performance but damn is it hard to stay sometimes over it. As much as they frustrate I just want my customers to have the best experience for their money and sometimes we simply don't offer it. I don't even think our card and memberships are bad deals, but the amount of shilling I am expected to do by corporate is borderline unethical and it seems to only be getting worse. God willing Best Buy gets some competition and is forced to either improve or collapse.
TL;DR: buy a Framework, send OEM and MS executives to the Shadow Realm.
