So I just finished Reunion for the first time and I'm so confused by it that I need some help to understand it. For me everything goes to shit the moment Max is saving Moses, Safi, and Chloe from Moses office.
First, she is literally teleporting. Is this the same power she used to save Kate Marsh on the roof? If it is, it's weird that they didn’t establish beforehand that Max could still use it. It’s even weirder that the power doesn’t seem to take a toll on her body and she’s just using it over and over like it’s nothing. And if it isn’t the same power, did Max just get a new power out of nowhere? Or did I miss something?
Second, they go to the roof and then Max, all of a sudden, can’t use her power to go back a few seconds to get the stairs back in place (is that the toll for stopping time? And if it is, why is she teleporting again later in the scene?). Then, out of nowhere Chloe basically jumps off the roof so Max can save her (I have no idea why). Max, who couldn’t turn back 30 seconds to get the stairs back or even rewind to a point before Chloe got thrown off, is suddenly stopping time (I think?) and teleporting again. But how? Is it the adrenaline from trying to save Chloe? If it is, why didn’t it work when she was trying to reach Chloe literally seconds before she starts teleporting again?
And all of this is ignoring the fact that the roof wasn’t that tall and neither of them would probably die from jumping from there. I’m also ignoring the kinda ridiculous fake-out death where Max barely reaches falling Chloe, but then suddenly not only reaches her but also has enough time to pull the entire leaf cart under Chloe.
I’m normally a pretty positive person and I’ve even defended DE in comments on this sub, but this moment right here is something I truly can’t wrap my head around. Can anyone help me understand it better? I don’t want to sound like a hater, but this is really bothering me.
