Hi all, looking for some advice!
Over the past year I’ve really let myself go. I have a stressful job I’m not happy in and I’ve been worried about my career.
In terms of fitness, I’ve been in and out of the gym this past year. I love HIIT classes, and about 45 days ago I committed to going consistently — and was feeling really good! Then my knee started hurting. Long story short, I was diagnosed with patellofemoral syndrome and I’m currently in physical therapy for it.
I also waitress on weekends in the summer, and from that I’ve developed plantar fasciitis, which I’m also getting PT for. Both of my doctors have told me I’m extremely tight, have hip imbalances, and significant muscle weaknesses — and I never want to feel this way again.
So my question is: what’s the best path forward for someone in my situation? Am I better off doing yoga and lifting on my own? Should I try Pilates? Would working with a personal trainer be worth it? I know everyone has their own opinions, but I’d love to hear what’s worked for others or what you’d generally recommend.
Thanks!
