Hello,

This is a very niche question. When you report a new baby, do they automatically make the father a spouse, even if you don't live together and are not together?

The potential complication is there is a previous child together. The couple has been seperated since 2024, but slept together once at the end of 2025, and are now due this summer. They did not get back together, they do not work as a couple, it works very smoothly as co-parents but gets violent on one side when co-habitating.

Just trying to help find some information to prepare the mother for what they may need to provide document wise when the child is born, or prepare her that benefits may be cut etc.
