I hired a lawyer for a divorce. Paid a retainer, used half of it and realized I can't afford to physically leave my spouse. I called the lawyer to cancel the court date and file a stipulation of dismissal.

She has since asked me to wire money for five days in a row for "fees and stamps and the final scrip". She has been saying it will be refunded to me when she has the final stamp and final scrip. This communication is all in writing via email.

I have been (stupidly?) Wiring the money...because she is a lawyer and wtf do I know. She told me three different times it was "the final payment" and then today asked for an amount I literally don't have.

Please help, what is happening?
