We are currently considering moving to Thailand, Malaysia, or Vietnam and are looking for suitable long-term visa options.

I (27M) will be receiving several years of monthly compensation from my previous job, which will fully cover our living expenses. My partner (28F) and I plan to use this income to live abroad while we both complete our university degrees and build our professional portfolios (1-2 Years stay).

We are aware of digital nomad visas, but those typically require active employment or freelance work. In our case, we would rely on passive income and therefore do not necessarily need to work locally or remotely.

Are there any visa pathways or residency options that better fit this situation (living off passive income rather than employment-based income)?
