Getting close to buying a '26 Outback. The legacy issues with the CVT are kind of spooking me and I for sure will do a regular fluid drain and fill. I'm gravitating toward the XT for the 2.4L Turbo from a drive performance perspective more than anything. BUT, this uses the TR690 transmission vs. the TR580 that's paired with the 2.5L natural engine. While the 580 certainly had reported issues, the 690's issues, especially on the Ascent around the 2019-2020 time frame are approaching legendary. As a point of reference, I am not looking at the Wilderness, not planning on doing any significant off-roading, and am not planning to be doing any heavy trailer pulling. So I would love to get some feedback regarding if there should still be a CVT reliability concern on the '26 and recent years with this engine/CVT combo on the XT's.
