Interesting to see an exchange berween a speaker of Senhaja n Srair and another one of Ghomara, two endangered languages of northwestern Morocco. Although they are close to the Rif, they actually belong to the non-Zenatic branch of northern Tamazight, meaning they are closer to Tacelhit and Central Atlas Tamazight, and even to a certain extent to Kabyle, than they are related to Tarifit.

In this video we can see that the 2 languages are pretty much mutually intelligible.

Unfortunately, today Senhaja n Srair is only spoken by 85,000 speakers, and Ghomara by 10,000 speakers, and both are considered endangered

I think the picture is self explanatory as to why it was named like this.

Do you have any other examples of words in Tamazight that are composed of 2 words?

Today, we remember and honor the courage of those who stood up for their language, culture, and identity in the face of repression. From the streets of Tizi Ouzou in 1980 to the voices rising across Tamazgha today, the spirit of Tafsut n Yimaziɣen lives on.

May this memory of Tafsut continue to inspire generations to reclaim, revive, and celebrate our heritage.

Ulac smah ulac! Assa, azekka, Tamaziɣt tella tella 💙💚💛
