Waaayyyy back in the day -- long before the Old World Alliance -- I played in a league at the local comic shop and they let me make a sort of hybrid Dwarf, Human, and Halfling team. Mostly it was because that's what middle school me could scrape together the miniatures for. It had no proper big guys or traditional positionals, but the comic shop owner gave me three Zug miniatures which became Half-Ogres with a stat line like Chaos Chosen. Of course, I had a blast.
I'm putting together an homage to that early 90's team, and would like to play it in friendly local matches once pieced together and painted. I've been calling the roster list "Outcasts of the Empire," but some better name suggestions would be great! So, on that note, I wanted to get some feedback on the stat lines and overall balance of the team. Here's what I have down right now:
Re-rolls are 60k and the team can take an apothecary.
Special rule "Half-Blooded Brothers":
- If your team is the underdog The Mighty Zug refuses to play against you, and cannot be hired by the opposing team. If you hire Zug both he and your Ogre players gain +1 to Loner rolls.
- The Halfling Master Chef inducement's cost is reduced to 200k. You also lose one less re-roll to the opponent's Halfling Master Chef.
- Magic is frightening and strange; you do not have access to the Weather Mage or Wizard inducements.
The team is pretty slow, but can be quite capable of one or two turn touchdowns if players are skilled towards that. The Half-Ogre is the centerpiece of the team. I'm hoping he can be built in many different directions, and sort of dictates how the overall team plays. In some self testing I've used him with 4+ AG and 3+ PA, but it felt like that really over indexed into Throw Team-Mate. I'm debating taking the Dwarf Safety's agility to 4+, but then it feels weird to have primary access to agility skills (which I think they should have, giving them a more defensive play style instead of a typical blitzer build).
Enough rambling, here's hoping for some feedback and constructive criticism!
