EB2 PERM approved, L1B expiring soon — should I be worried about Visa Bulletin delays?
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice from people who have been through this process.
I’m currently on an L1B visa that expires in December 2026, with no possibility of extension. My PERM (EB2) was filed in February 2025 and has just been certified.
My company’s lawyers are now preparing to file the I-140, but they told me that I cannot file the I-485 yet because the Visa Bulletin is currently not current for EB2 (Rest of World, including Brazil).
They are not giving me any expectations about timelines, just very basic answers, so I’m getting a bit worried.
Given that we’re now in May 2026 and I only have until December 2026, do you think there’s a realistic chance that the Visa Bulletin will become current in the next few months? Or should I start considering backup options?
Any insight or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
