So I bought their top-of-the-line router, the 5690 Pro, that was officially launched in June 2024. My assumption was that the top-of-the-line, most expensive box that they have would also be the best. I have 100Mb up/down fibre internet.

I have spent at least a hundred hours trying to get it to work properly. You have no idea how much effort I've gone through. I've even created an openclaw removable box (399 Euro) that scanned different locations in the house to see what signal strength I was getting and why there could be a problem. I've bought new repeaters.. I've moved them again and agan. Nothing helped.

Whatever I did, I kept getting dropouts, and the mesh was not working properly. My mobile devices would log in to any repeater anywhere in the property at random, even though I was sitting next to one. This meant that signal strength went up and down like a yo-yo. Watching TV became a game where buffering would take place every 10 mins.

So today, nearly two years after it's launched, Fritz AVM finally releases the software that works. Now the mesh steering actually does what it's supposed to do. So they released the product, sold it for 2 years, and 2 years later it seems they got rid of the bugs in it. It now works perfectly. I get 50+ Mb everywhere in my house...

I, for one, will never buy another Fritz product as long as I live. To release a product and expect their customers to go through the pain that I've gone through is not acceptable.
