I reached out earlier this week about the rumor I had Canadian descent. After the War of 1812, the Crown rewarded a loyalist for his efforts. He was given 100 acres of land in New Brunswick. Well, let me tell you. The Baxter’s were prolific. The number of children right up into the 70s is wild to me.

I’ve attached the discovery and I will work bit by bit to myself. Does anyone happen to know where I can rely on census records? If there is a general rule of thumb where I need to get in the weeds for birth certificates, etc?

One other observation that I am also finding interesting - family names are centuries old. My father’s full name was used back in the 1700s. There are other unusual names that date back even further. I love it!
