Last Minute Mother’s Day Card

Not every cardmaking session goes according to plan 😅

I had a complete fail while trying to make a pop up card, so instead of fighting with it any longer, I challenged myself to create something using only the supplies I already had sitting on my desk.

For the first card, I recycled artwork from an old calendar, and for the second I used a Cricut cutout layered with bits of scrap paper to add color and dimension. Honestly, I think I ended up liking these more than the original idea.

One of my favorite things about cardmaking is how often “mistakes” turn into completely different creative directions. Sometimes the recovery project becomes the better project. ✂️💌

Demo card I made for my students

This was one of the cards I created for the interactive card making workshop I recently taught! ✂️✨

For this project, we worked on masking techniques, layered stamping, and a basic step pop up structure. I wanted the design to feel playful but still approachable for beginners, and honestly I was so happy seeing everyone’s versions come together throughout class.

The pop up element ended up being a huge hit, and I got a lot of really positive feedback from participants — especially from people who had never tried interactive cards before. Watching people realize “oh, I can actually do this” is probably my favorite part of teaching workshops.

I’d love to know:
What was the favorite interactive card style you ever learned? 💌
