I hired a local flooring company to complete my bathroom renovation. The first two pictures are before grout and are screenshots from a video I took. I noticed that in about 85% of all the cracks, there was no thin set visible and I could easily see the Kerdi grid lines. I am not knowledgeable in the tiling space, but thought that thin set was supposed to be troweled out over the entire space before laying a tile? I’m assuming this means I shouldn’t be seeing a lot of the Kerdi grid. Am I wrong? I’m just worried that this may affect longevity. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Also, the subcontracted tiler did not know that 12x24 was the nominal size of the tile (even though I was told “the tiler coming out is really good”). This miscalculation led to a 1 inch tile being installed where the tile meets the ceiling (pictures 3 & 4). It was caulked over and looks really ugly. Do you think it would help to instead use white caulk where the tile meets the ceiling?

I’m not trying to be ungrateful, I’d just like to ensure that things were done correctly since I paid decent money for the job.
