I arrived as gringo tourist at the airport and was looking forward to getting outside for a cigarette, so I passed by all of the official taxi operators inside. Once outside, I realized I couldn’t get back in. Then I saw a dude holding a sign saying they accept credit cards and he led me to his car in the parkade. I was a bit skeptical when he tailgated another car exiting the parkade to avoid parking fees. On the highway, the driver swerved and suddenly next to us was an unmarked car with a mean looking dude holding his badge to his passenger side window. Once stopped, it was explained to me that my driver was a scammer and would likely have charged my credit card thousands of USD for my ride. Shout out to the police that stopped this scammer.
