A few days ago I started a YouTube channel called Le Sham, a fictional jazz bar on Straight Street, Damascus, 1963. The concept: AI-generated music rooted in authentic Arabic maqam scales (Hijaz, Bayati, Rast) with real instruments - oud, qanun, nay, muted trumpet. Not generic lofi.
Actually trying to capture what a Syrian jazz bar might have sounded like in that era. Syria had a real jazz scene from the 1940s through 1968 that most people don't know about. Le Sham is a love letter to that.
Would genuinely love feedback from people who care about this kind of music. Does it feel authentic? Does the concept resonate?
