PhD in life sciences: 3 publications
70+ citations and received an extremely competitive fellowship to fund research during PhD
Since then I have moved into science communication, and I am not doing work directly related to my research but still in touch with the life sciences. Its more of a client facing role, I am not publishing any more.
Case accepted by EP (full refund), Ashoori, Colombo & Hurd
Rejected by Manifest Law and Chen (Chen cited transition to industry where I am not publishing as lowering my chances).
Curious if anyone here has had a similar career trajectory and what that experience was like? Feel like I have some solid things to show from PhD, but as my current role is client facing I unfortunately can not own the materials I create in the same way.
I have some ideas for PEs that I am continuing to strengthen but I am now afraid I made a mistake by changing careers and maybe should have done a post doc.
Any advice how to strengthen my case further before applying? Appreciate all and any advice during this stressful period! 😄
