The storm is as devastating as the story states but ngl, after they revealed that the reversed characters would be brought back, i think the stakes kind of got stale. However, after Merel was introduced and now finally her fate is revealed, I kind of understand now just how devastating it still is.
Imagine the person, a close friend of yours, a lover, a family, reappearing in front of you. They still look the same, sound the same and speak the same yet they don't hold the same memories as you do. If they can't even remember it anymore then the feelings too are as good as gone. You can't even pretend as if they never got stormed because they would definitely be confused of you. They are their own person and you can't do anything about that. The only solace you'll find is that they're alive.
Merel's situation is heartbreaking to me because I have seen her grow from this coward girl to finally stepping up despite her fear. Now I finally get her as playable it turns out its not even her. Just someone who looks and sounds like her. Might as well just say she's dead in front of my face.
tldr: a 10 years of bad luck to whoever made the storm man
