What are my chances for UBC Sauder?
I’m a Grade 11 student in BC going into Grade 12 soon, and I’m planning to apply to UBC Sauder. I’m trying to get a realistic idea of my chances and what I should focus on improving before applications.
Current grades:
My current average is around 92–94%, depending on which courses are counted.
Some of my main grades:
- Accounting 11: 95%
- First People’s Socials 12: 99%
- Marketing 11: 97%
- Pre-calc 10 Math (didn’t take it last year because my career path was different) 90%
- Entrepreneurship 12 (so far): 98%
- New Media 11 (so far): around 93%
- Overall average: roughly 92–94%
For Grade 12, I’m aiming for around a 92–96% average, especially in English, Pre-Calculus, and business-related courses.
Planned Grade 12 / extra courses:
I’m planning to take:
- Economics 12
- Accounting 12
- Pre-Calculus 11
- World History 12
- Environmental Science 11
I may also take an extra semester of high school to strengthen my transcript and profile, and to complete Pre-calc 12 and English 12.
Extracurriculars / leadership:
- Founder and President of my school’s AI Club
- Organizing AI-related meetings, presentations, and workshops for students
- Currently helping organize and co-director the Surrey Youth AI Summit, a student-led event focused on AI literacy, no-code AI tools, and student-built AI prototypes for local businesses (has similarities to case comp. and is a competition)
- Building a project called ClubOps AI, an AI tool meant to help student clubs plan meetings and reflect after meetings
- Co-VP of my school’s Model United Nations club
- Involved in fundraising and helping grow/rebuild the MUN club
- Manage/update school announcement slides and help with school communication graphics
- Around 75+ volunteer hours, aiming to pass 100+ from school communications announcement computer
- Some business/marketing-related experience through school projects, club promotion, and event planning
(AI relates to business, so that’s why I’m focusing a lot on it)
Things I’m planning to pursue:
- Apply for the YELL program
- Apply for library teen council
- Try Get a part-time job
- Potentially start a small AI-related business or project
- I will become president of Model UN in grade 12
I know Sauder cares a lot about the personal profile, leadership, initiative, and impact, not just grades. My main concern is whether my extracurriculars are strong enough compared to other applicants, and whether my average is competitive enough.
Would appreciate honest thoughts on my chances, what stands out, and what I should improve before applying.
