Suffering is not just about thoughts or opinions. It is also physical and real. When a human or animal is hurt, their body reacts with pain. This happens for many living beings. For example, an animal being hunted in the wild feels fear and pain. It does not think deeply about the meaning of its suffering—it simply experiences it. This shows that suffering is not only subjective, but also something biological.

Animals in the wild suffer a lot. They face hunger, disease, injury, and violent death. Most of them do not live peaceful lives. They are always trying to survive. This kind of suffering happens again and again, every day, in nature.

Humans also suffer in ways that are clearly real. People feel deep sadness when they lose someone they love. Many people experience depression, which affects the brain and body

The problem is that suffering cannot be fully avoided as long as life exists. Every living being will face pain, loss, and death at some point. Even if life has good moments, suffering is always present. Because of this, some thinkers like DAVID BENATAR argue that it is better not to bring new life into existence. If no new beings are born, then no new suffering will happen.

Extinctionism takes this idea further. It says that the only way to completely end all suffering is to end all sentient life. If there are no living beings, there will be no pain, fear, or sadness. This would solve the problem of suffering at its root.
