Junior Data Analyst thinking of switching career to Software Engineering due to job market
Hi everyone, thanks in advance for all the advice!
Im a junior data analyst, just graduated in Dec 2024 and have been a data analyst for a 140k-employees company. I need to move to South California by July 10th and have not been able to find jobs in that area or remote. My current company does not allow remote work. I have been applying 100+ applications, for jobs that I see highly fit, I even tailor my resume to hit as much keywords as possible but still nothing (yet). I notice that a lot of big companies hire a lot of software engineering positions. I also like building apps but mainly vibe coding so far.
Would it be shallow of me to start self-learn software engineer from scratch? I know coding mainly SQL, I used Python as well but not as much. I'm strong in data analytical tools and that's where I enjoy my work. I interned and did private consulting as well. How is the Software engineer job market like currently?
