Black top screen after one week. :)
I've had my pro for about one week. Everything has been great, but today on my lunch break I pulled it out to play and I have the black top screen defect.
It just sucks, I should have known it would happen to me.
Update:
I've been able to inspect both ends of the ribbon cable and its connectors for the top screen. This included inspection of both of the ribbon cable pads as well as the pins of the connector using my scope. I couldn't see anything bad with the soldering of the connector or the pads of the ribbon cable. I'd like to quickly swap the ribbon cable out, but I obviously don't have one on hand.
After reseating both ends of the ribbon cable and reassembling the unit, I again powered it on. Still no top screen even after reseating the cable.
At this point I cant fully rule out the ribbon cable, but I also didn't see anything that stood out to me as damaged or faulty. Likely it's just the top screen assembly that has failed.
