I have recently decided to make a career switch, I'm 25 and have been working a job that has me in an office all day. I can't take it any more. I have been researching for a while and talked to a couple surveyors, I think I could really enjoy the job. I am also looking to move, really anywhere. I like working outside and want to spend a lot of time outdoors. I think it could also be really interesting to get into mine surveying someday, or some other specialized field. If I like working as a tech I would plan on enrolling part in an online degree to someday become licensed.

So where should I go? Where is the best market for techs, I hear there is a high demand for licensed surveyors but it seems like not nearly as a high a demand for greenhorns. Any states where I can one day make good money? Or places where the work is just plain interesting. Let me know your experiences at the places you have worked.
