Hi, hoping someone might have some experience with something similar.

We suspected our 2 year old Keeshond of having allergies after repeated reverse sneezing episodes, clear nasal discharge and watery eyes. Our local vet sent us to an internal medecine specialist to investigate further. At this apointment, they decide to run a basic blood panel because they may want to do some scans. I get an urgent call from the vet the next morning, turns out our dog has an extremely low platelet count of 8 (or 8000 depending on how you count). All other blood values (WBC, RBC, coagulating factor and so on) are normal. Smear test also confirms count of 8.

Thing is, there are no other symptoms. Dog is completely normal (playful, active, eating, drinking, cuddly). They have us come back to repeat the blood test and check our pup over properly and find no petechiae or bruising. Also didnt bleed much after both blood draws, bandages were totally clean. No bleeding otherwise, BM and urine totally normal, gums nice and pink and so on.

Vet still thinks this may be lab error, but due to a civic holiday tomorrow, we likely won’t get results of the repeat test for a few days. Dog has been put on rest until we get a clearer picture. He says it could still be IMT, but would have expected a count this low to produce some kind of symptom. Other hypotheses are tick born infections.

Has anyone experienced a case like this?
