I started playing guitar and have been going to a guy for about two and a half years now, once a week for thirty minutes. I’ve made some progress but I have some concerns. He only seems to want to give me progressively challenging songs every time I go. He’ll teach me a new chord or technique but it all feels very unstructured. I had to ask about scales for him to show them to me and had to bring up using a metronome with them. I really like him and he is a truly talented guitarist but I’m not sure I’m getting the best instruction.
