I use a Macbook and often have a Youtube video playing in the background. On my keyboard I will use the play/pause key to be able to play or pause videos in the background. This stopped working 2 days ago. I've since updated Brave to the current version and still had the same problem.
I played around with disabling several options under shields. If I turn off shields completely, then it will work again. If I toggle on Adblock-Only mode, then it will work again. What I believe is the actual feature that's causing the problem is the "Block Fingerprinting" option. If I turn this off everything works, and it was also one of the toggles that gets deactivated when going into Adblock-Only mode. Just putting it out there in case anyone else is running into this problem, or if it can somehow be patched.
And just to be clear, I could manually pause or play Youtube videos by clicking on the videos, but I could not do it by using my keyboard play/pause button. It would attempt to pause, but would begin playing again in less than a second.
Edit: Disregard. This worked for a few times and then stopped working as well. I think I might have forgotten to refresh the tab after turning off Block Fingerprinting, which made me think it worked but it was still using previous settings. So I've now changed to Adblock-Only mode and it appears to be working again
