I am a hobby/as needed youtube mechanic on my and my friends car. The hardest jobs I have done in the past are a starter on a 2008 Tundra and an alternator on a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Recently I have gotten the pentastar tick on my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan (SXT Flex Fuel; 215k miles) and have decided to attempt to fix it with new rockers and lifters. I have the valve covers off with the cams out and all rockers and lifters removed. My front 2nd cam from the front (side mounted 3.6 vvt/pentastar) seems damaged but the damage is usually see on cam lobe is in the center of the lobe rather than the outer edges. I hope to get to 300k and honestly not much further than that out of this van.

My main questions are:

  1. Is this going to cause major issues with the newly repaired rockers and lifters causing me to have to redo all the labor somewhat quickly?

  2. If it does not call for the job to be immediately redone how long roughly should I expect to get out of the damaged cam/lobe.

Thank you in advance for any and all help.

TLDR: should I replace this cam?
