New Samsung User
I finally switched from iPhone to Samsung and my S26 Ultra is coming in tomorrow so I have a few questions. For context: this is the first time I’ve bought a phone myself, and I have been under my dad’s iPhone plan since the 3G and have only gotten his and my mom’s hand-me-downs through the years. Even with this new phone I’m still under their phone plan as it’s cheaper and I do not make quite enough to be able to pay for my own plan yet.
Also, I’m sorry if this is all over the place, I’m an overthinker/overexplainer and have ADHD so I hope I got everything i needed to ask. I don’t post on Reddit usually, I just lurk so I am not too sure what flair to use for this or anything either.
Questions:
- I know about the Smart Switch that I can do and I want to know if there’s anything I should watch for when it comes to what won’t get transferred over. Photos, notes and most (if not all) apps should all be transferred but is there anything that might not get transferred?
- iCloud. I saw that I can transfer over my iCloud storage but again, I am on my dad’s family plan. This might seem like a dumb question but if I transfer my data will it only be the data I personally stored or will it include all of my family members as well? I honestly think it’s a dumb question but again, I overthink everything
- AI. I’m personally not a fan of ai and I wanted to know what all I could do to minimize how much ai is used on the phone. I already never use Siri on my current iPhone and have turned off any other features I knew of. I’m pretty sure I can turn off Gemini/Bixby but is there anything else I will be able to toggle off as well as where it will be in the settings?
- more of a fun sort of question but is there a way to set certain themes and attach them to like a lock screen? I change the wallpaper and the whole theme of my backgrounds, colors and stuff change to fit it and I can change it all at once? It’s one of the gripes I had about iPhone customization that it was tedious to manually change my entire theme.
I would really appreciate any answers to these questions, and please let me know if anything else I should also watch out for when it comes to transferring anything over or any tips for the settings and other things I wouldn’t think of as a former iPhone user. Thank you!!
