Advice Needed. Manager is blocking promotion.
Hi everyone,
I am stuck in a predicament and need some advice. I got offered a promotion internally at a financial institution to a manager role.
I had my interviews, cleared them, constant chats with hiring managers, and finally got an offer.
Since Im already at this financial institution, HR reached out to my manager. She stopped my promotion, and said I had made a 2 year commitment to her to stay at this position.
I do not recall having this conversation, and nothing such stated in my offer letter.
That promotion was something I really worked hard for, and it seems like my career will come to a standstill because of my current manager as shes rejecting a move that I really desire.
Any advice, comments, assistance would be appreciated. I am thinking of speaking to HR in regards to this as I feel betrayed by my current manager who always said that i would be assisted in growth and career progression.
