Hi everyone,
I’m planning to apply for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sydney for Term 2 (August) 2026 as an international student.
At the same time, I was hoping to be considered for the Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship, but the website says applications are closed.
I contacted the Student Centre, and their response was basically:
- “Applications for 2026 are closed”
- “Check the webpage for updates”
Which feels a bit vague.
So I wanted to ask:
- Does “closed” mean completely gone for 2026, or is there any chance it reopens?
- Has anyone here actually received this scholarship before and knows when decisions usually come out / how the timeline works?
- Is it realistic to still apply for 2026 intake and hope for other scholarships, or would it make more sense to aim for Semester 1, 2027 instead?
For context, I have strong academics and extracurriculars(6A*1A in my A Level and 7A*4A in my O Level with a highest mark in a subject in the country I attempted exam), so I’m trying to figure out whether waiting a semester could significantly improve my chances at funding.
Would really appreciate any insights or past experiences — especially from international students 🙏
