How many hours of your life does your morning coffee cost? I built a free app to find out — and it changed how I spend money.
Hey everyone 👋
Solo dev here. I spent 4 months building something I
genuinely needed for myself, and figured some of you
might find it useful too.
THE PROBLEM I had:
I'd buy stuff, regret it 2 weeks later, repeat. The price
tag never felt "real" to me. $200 sounds manageable. But
"16 hours of my life"? That hits different.
WHAT THE APP DOES:
You enter your salary once. Then every price you see gets
instantly translated into time.
$4 coffee → 17 minutes of work
$1,200 iPhone → 3 months of your life
$50 dinner → half a day at the office
That's it. That's the whole concept. But it genuinely
rewires how your brain processes purchases.
COOL FEATURES (the stuff I'm proud of):
📸 Camera mode — point your phone at any object, AI
detects what it is and estimates the price. Useful
when shopping in stores.
🌍 Works in 20+ countries with 10 currencies (USD, EUR,
GBP, CAD, MAD, DZD, etc.)
🔒 100% offline AI — your photos never leave your phone.
No account, no tracking, no data collection. I hate
apps that harvest data, so I built mine the way I'd
want to use it.
🗣️ 8 languages including English, French, Arabic,
Spanish, German, Portuguese
📊 History tracking so you can see your "shock moments"
over time
WHAT I'D LOVE FROM YOU:
- Try it for a week and tell me what surprised you
- Tell me what's missing or what sucks (I read everything)
- Share the most painful price-to-time ratio you calculated
I'm reading every comment today. Ask me anything about
the app, the building process, indie dev life, whatever.
Thanks for reading 🙏
