What was accomplished by nerfing Sharen?

When Sharen got her rework, were there any posts complaining about her being too powerful?

The only thing I saw that was close to that, was a recent post about how if Ines got nerfed because of passing through walls, then Sharen should not have the ability either. But the issue with that, is you're comparing a skill that can be used blindly to one that is aimed. Not to mention that even in the lore, or based on how the skills even work, Ines is bouncing electricity off of enemies. Sharen? The woman that can literally walk through lasers, has always cut through enemies. Her blade, cuts through matter. I don't care if it's flesh or a metal wall. That was her ability from the start of the game.

RCF with collision turns a consistent skill into a gamble each time you throw it out. What used to be one skill hit to clear a pocket of enemies takes multiple attempts because you're attempting to guide one of the widest projectiles along a clear path for what could be 20-40 meters. The devs don't build areas with flat level terrain. No matter where you go in this game, it's an issue. You might as well take the ability to expand the area of the skill away. It's only going to make using it harder.

If this is a consistent change across the board, fine. But that means Bunny's circle should start to warp around terrain, not go through it. Also reduce the height of her circle. Wouldn't want her to be able to kill enemies above her without her having to be on the same height. Start warping explosion skills so they can't kill enemies behind boxes. Start making it so Serena and Viessa have to actually have enemies directly in their field of view for guns to trigger the skill damage. You know, cus you wouldn't want someone to be able to kill blindly. Does Freyna's poison spread to enemies blocked by terrain? Well, not anymore I guess. Right? Because you want to be consistent. You see how this gets out of hand? This is why you didn't want to do nerfs. But here we are.

I love this game, but the favoritism is really too much to ignore. There is character favoritism, but it also falls into skills and effort too. Braindead kits that can with one button and no aim delete full rooms, are the future imo. That is, if the devs want that character to compete. Any kits that take more effort, never get an equal payoff for the effort put out. People can debate the amount of skill the game requires of the player, but you can't debate the difference in effort required between characters. This game is going to look more and more like a ported mobile game. Mind numbing grinds with mind numbing gameplay.

Besides the names themselves, what actually separates them? Early on I thought they were a way of describing what a skill does, like is it DoT, is it an AoE, or a defense based skill. But there's too much overlap for that.

I know it's most likely just a way to inflate the amount of mods and to extend grinding for reactors, but it'd be cool if there was more of a lore reasoning behind the different types. Anyone know if it's explained or have made up their own theory for it?
