I picked up a 2009 BMW 128i E88 convertible with an N51 that needs some love. Prior owners did not have a garage or car cover. The convertible top opens and closes without issue, and the computer isn't throwing any codes for it. However, the top is discolored, and has some fraying.

After researching the convertible repair options, it seems like the most economic solution is to find a grade-A junk yard drop-in replacement, or re-canvas the existing top. I'm curious if anyone explored these options. I assume the junk yard approach could be cheaper and easier, but the re-canvas option might look better / last longer.

Looking for recommendations, and if re-canvasing is preferred, what brand to go with?
