So my wife and I bought this house about 9 months ago. I was just taking a shower and when I got out my wife said there was a small leak in the kitchen ceiling…
I immediately assumed it’s probably the shower/tub since it’s directly above the kitchen. I pulled the faucet off and this is what I see. Clearly it is not sealed and who knows how long it’s been leaking INTO the damned wall…
The pipe the faucet was attached to wiggles a bit if I push on it. I can push it back far enough that the old caulking can line up again, but I’m assuming between the loose pipe, and the old caulking giving out, it just broke all of the seals.
I’m handy enough to probably do the job if it just involves busting this plastic threaded piece off the pipe that accepts the faucet, and re sealing it. What is the best way to remove the plastic piece? Or should I just bust it? If I go pick up a new faucet, are they typically all the same dimensions/threads or even the same mounting systems?
As to the water behind the wall… I don’t even know how to access in there as it’s in a wooden cubby, and evidently runs straight down to the kitchen ceiling, and if it’s flooded or molded/ruined in there, it’s just a bit more than I’d like to tackle at the moment with other issues I have going (like our dog and his stitches he broke yesterday that I can’t even get in to see an ER Vet…)
Any help is appreciated guys, thanks..
