Now, I’m not discrediting the guy. Holding your breathe for like an hour or fasting inside of a glass box suspended above Time Square for days on end are certainly impressive feats of endurance, but what exactly about those stunts screams “magic” to you?
It just seems he was trying to out do the true GOAT (Houdini) without factoring in the “how did he do that” ingredient that makes Houdini’s escapes truly seem magical.
Blaine was better when he was doing card tricks and levitating. Who among us hasn’t tried the levitation trick for friends at least once?
I just think those stunts cheapened our craft and ignored what makes magic truly special. I would love to hear others’ thoughts on this.
