Life insurance as a beneficiary

Hey guys, I had a question about what a life insurance agent said to me. So, my estranged father passed away in February and my family didn’t know about it till last month through retirement papers from his work. We finally got a call from NY life. Im his only son, and when I called NY life back they said they’d sent out paperwork for me. They wouldn’t tell me the number of the payout over the phone which I completely understand. The agent however tho said the payment would be nice. I know “nice” is subjective, but do yall have a ball park of it? Maybe she was messing with me, but do you think it would be around 20k or more? I looked at the average life insurance payout and it’s around 100k-200k.
