I've been playing 40k for a hot minute with Astra Militarum but I'm kinda looking to branch out into Knights, and I've been playing with list ideas in New Recruit to see if I couldn't put together something I like. I wanted to get some thoughts from the professionals though, since I'm pretty new to the faction. I've always liked armigers and I wanted to try out the Spearhead where they really shine, so that's been my focus.
For big knights I'm looking at a Crusader for my WL, with Rapid Fire Battle Cannon, stubber and Stormspear rockets, a Defender, and a Paladin with a melta and Stormspear.
For Armigers I'm looking at three Helverins with stubbers and three Warglaives with meltas.
The idea I had was to have a fast moving frontline with the paladin and the warglaives for keeping my momentum and the crusader and helverins shredding things off the board from the back with the Defender running interference so my shooties aren't disintegrated off the field. Theoretically. This build doesn't leave room for any enhancements though. I would have loved to have Mentor's Pride for the Helverins too, but I couldn't fit it and a defender without having a huge chunk of unused points and I wanted to avoid throwing in an assassin or something.
The alternate for this list was the Crusader, same build with Mentors, a Lancer with Tales, two melee Destriers and then three Helverins and two Warglaives, for really, really aggressive melee.
What do you think?
