Levelling porch - frost line footings or nah?

Typical 1900 house with a wonky porch. Planning to jack and level it but really struggling with whether I should bite the bullet and go down four feet or level, stack some CMUs and call it a day. I did this before on a previous house but it was an enclosed porch with pretty significant load on it so I dug new footings. And I had a guy there with a backhoe to help. This is a smaller uncovered porch.

Recently moved to Kingston, and a few weeks ago my son and I decided to go find some of the stocked trout shown on the DEP site. We went up and down Saw Kill all day to all of the accessible spots and had basically no luck.

Any pointers? Spots we should start with? I used to catch them out west as a kid with salmon eggs or synthetic bait and a simple sinker rig but maybe that's the wrong approach out here?

Hey everyone! Quick disclosure up top: I received this product for free from LG as part of a promotional event, and while I was asked to share my review, all opinions are entirely my own. With that out of the way, I was invited to test the LG StanbyME 2 as part of their community review program, and figured I'd share my initial thoughts. I live in a small condo in a big city, so I'm always looking for space-saving solutions that don't take up a ton of room, and this is definitely worth checking out.

The Unboxing Experience

The packaging is well thought out – compact and neat, with a handle built right into the box that made transport easy. Everything inside was properly protected, so no damage concerns [photo]. One thing I noticed: the styrofoam insert is designed to act as a support while you're assembling the base. A nice touch.

Assembly Was Straightforward

The instructions were clear, and honestly, finding my screwdriver took longer than putting the base together. Maybe 10-15 minutes if you're taking your time. Not really a hassle.

The Display & Initial Setup

The touchscreen is responsive – feels like a tablet, but it's about the size of a large monitor. The remote paired without issues since it's basically the same as my existing LG TV remote. Setup through the ThinQ app took just a few minutes, and all my usual apps synced over from my LG account. Pretty straightforward.

The Design

My wife walked in during setup and said it looks like something from a sci-fi movie. Fair assessment. This isn't quite a monitor, not really a TV, and definitely not a tablet. It's its own thing. The design choices seem intentional – the rolling stand, the flip-down screen cover, the option for a carrying strap. For someone in a condo, the fact that it rolls into a corner and blends into the wall when you're not using it is actually practical. It doesn't demand attention like a traditional TV does.

Real-World Use – Day One

Within minutes of setup, I rolled it into the kitchen while making dinner and threw on a video. My teenage son came home, saw it, and was interested. He popped it off the stand, figured out the case and cover, and we ended up playing chess on it (didn't realize it had games pre-loaded). He won, obviously.

Later that evening, my wife and I rolled it into the bedroom to watch our shows before bed. I'm not usually one for having a TV in the bedroom, but having the option without it being a permanent fixture is actually pretty convenient.

Initial Thoughts

Day one in, and the flexibility is the main draw here. It's actually useful across different parts of the house instead of being stuck in one spot. The build quality feels solid, and the whole concept just works. My son is already eyeing it for his room, so I'll probably need to keep better track of it.

More to come as I spend more time with it.
