Whilst examining my plumeria cuttings, I noticed that this one felt a bit soft when I pinched it between my thumb and forefinger. Worried that it might be the start of rot, I tried pricking it with a toothpick to see if the white sap was still flowing, and it is indeed still flowing all the way up. There is also no smell that would suggest it is rotting.

So I wanted to know whether the fact that the wood of the cutting is a little soft is something to worry about if there are no other symptoms of rot.

These are cuttings I received about two weeks ago (they come from a tropical region and I’m in France). I planted them in a 50/50 mix of cutting compost and perlite. And I’ve kept the soil temperature at around 24°C at night and around 30°C during the day, with the light filtered through a cloth. I sprayed a little water as a mist just onto the surface when it was dry.
