Any Advice For Studying or Bringing GPA Up?

Finish Freshman Fall (2.45) and Spring (2.94) semesters. Average is 2.73, I really tried, got into smart studying, spending most of my time studying or exercises, eating, and sleeping. Coming from a school that did not prepare well for university, I am really lost and don't know how I can study properly. Smart studying really makes it worst I think, when I just passively learn like writing down notes normally or doing the basic stuff it works well I would get a higher grade than if I were to try those techniques. How do I get over the college learning curve? Forgot to mention I am pre-med. Sorry to disappoint but I will still give medical school a try.

Should I Retake General Chem for Pre-Med Requirements?

I currently have a C- in both CH301 and CH302. Should I retake them over the summer to earn a higher grade, since some medical schools do not accept C- grades for prerequisite courses? If I retake the courses, would the new grades replace the old ones, or would both grades appear separately on my transcript? Additionally, when applying to medical school, would I be able to choose which grade to submit, or would medical schools see both attempts?
