Would it be stupid to harvest a working movement from a cheaper chinese watch to put into a replica while I wait on a movement in the mail?
My situation is a little bit niche so please try to understand the scenario first 😁
My toddler is staying with my family until Thursday and so I will be picking her up in a few days, and when she's back I will have zero time to fix any watches.
So, with that being said and the time crunch I am under:
I have a ZF Pelagos Ultra and the A2824 is not working. We think it's the keyless that's messed up (I can share a video if anyone is interested in seeing it) but all that to say, I would rather just replace the movement versus fix it.
I have a Cronos with a PT5000 in it, and although it works phenomenally, I do not mind digging into that watch to get that movement out and using it to fix the Pelly while I have the time.
Is it a bad idea to harvest the movement out of the working watch to put into the new one, since I have the time? Or is it better to just wait, not risk messing up the working watch, and just wait a while until I have the time to fix the Pelly?
Fwiw I have an SW200 coming in for the Pelly, so I am a bit excited about the upgrade, but I am also worried that I'll go months without having the actual free time to fix this watch
