Looking for Android testers for my app (AI food cost & profit tracking)

Hey everyone,

I’ve been building an Android app called ProfitPlate and I’m currently in the closed testing phase before full release.

It’s designed for restaurant owners / cloud kitchens to:

Track food costs

Analyze profit margins

Scan invoices and extract ingredient data

I’m looking for a few people willing to try it out and give honest feedback (UI, bugs, usability, anything).

If you’re interested, here’s how to join:

Join testing group: https://groups.google.com/g/profitplate/

Download app: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.profitplate.profitplate

No pressure—just looking for real feedback to improve the app before launch.

Appreciate any help 🙌

I built an app for the restaurant owners to save their time

I built an app for restaurant owners to track their food cost and margin so that they can update their menu and know if they are in profit or loss, And it reduces the time restaurant owners do while writing /tracking everything in spreadsheets . It is obviously not feasible , but I need testers for my app in orders to apply for production . And I can get the feedback and suggestions too

Building a restaurant profit tracking app after getting frustrated with food costing spreadsheets

I started building a restaurant profit tracking app after realizing how messy food costing becomes once menus and supplier prices start changing constantly.

Most restaurants I’ve seen either rely on spreadsheets, rough estimates, or update costs manually whenever they remember to.

The problem is that invoices pile up fast, ingredient prices keep changing, and suddenly dishes you thought were profitable barely make anything.

Most tools also felt either too complicated or too time consuming to maintain consistently, so I wanted to build something simpler and easier to keep updated long term.

Still early in development, but I’d genuinely love feedback from people here.

What’s the biggest issue current restaurant costing tools get wrong?

Maybe I’m overthinking this, but lately it feels like bookkeeping is becoming less about bookkeeping itself and more about managing operational chaos

Half the time it’s:

  • chasing missing receipts
  • waiting for client replies
  • figuring out what a transaction was for 3 weeks later
  • reopening books because context got lost
  • scattered info across emails/texts/spreadsheets
  • trying to remember why something was categorized a certain way

And then month-end becomes way more painful than it should be.

Feels like keeping everything organized is honestly harder than the actual bookkeeping sometimes.

Is getting transaction explanations from clients getting worse lately?

half my month is just following up on transactions now.

By the time clients reply it’s usually:

  • “I don’t remember”
  • “probably business?”
  • missing receipt
  • no response for 2 weeks

Then I end up reopening transactions I already looked at before because new info randomly comes in later.

Feels way more exhausting lately than the actual bookkeeping part.
