Finishing up my second ever quilt top and my first one that’s not just a bunch of squares so my questions are:

1. How do you choose a quilting design?

For my last quilt I just did straight lines to match the patchwork pattern but for this pattern there aren’t obvious lines to follow. I was thinking maybe diagonal lines or maybe figuring out how to use a free motion foot but I’m just kind of stuck on where to start and I have trouble visualizing what the finished product will look like with any quilting design.

And

2. How do you choose a thread color?

This quilt has much more contrasting colors than my previous one I’m worried if I choose a light color it will be distracting on the red and blue spots and a dark color would look weird on the background.
